Senior Investment Accountant

Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for daily cash reconciliation of portfolios to the appropriate custodian bank or prime broker

  • Responsible for monthly account reconciliation of domestic and international equities and complex derivatives based portfolios to the appropriate custodian bank or broker

  • Responsible for working with the firm's fund administrator to facilitate the monthly/weekly close of company’s offshore funds

  • Work with firm's external auditors on annual fund audits and preparation of financial statements

  • Maintains accounting for portfolios on Advent and in-house portfolio accounting systems. Assist in the transition to a new third party portfolio accounting system

  • Resolves trading and settlement issues by communicating with trading support personnel as well as counterparty contacts when needed

  • Responsible for performance analysis of domestic and international equities and derivatives based portfolios on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

  • Maintains historical performance returns on the company's Performance software database, and in excel spreadsheets

  • Prepares monthly and/or quarterly reports sent to clients.

  • Analyze benchmark activity and market activity such as corporate actions, mergers and acquisitions

  • Manages requests of Marketing Group/Client Service team while ensuring that client needs are handled on a timely basis

  • Assists with reporting enhancements and arising issues in the portfolio accounting systems

  • Researches current market trends

  • Reads current literature to meet demands of an ever-changing industry

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred with at least three to five years related experience and/or training

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
