Answer to: How do you handle a difficult situation?
With this question, go back to the job description to get an idea of where a challenging issue may exist. This way, as you describe how you deal with difficult situations, you will relate your direct and relevant experience to that described in the job opening. This will make the interviewer feel more confident in your skill set. Perhaps the job opening talks about implementing a new system into the department. Ideally, you should describe a situation in your current job that dealt with implementing a new system and the intricacies associated with it. The key is turning this “negative” question into a “positive” one – the way to do this is to state that a difficult situation for you is viewed as a challenging opportunity and you embrace and tackle it accordingly. They need to know that difficult to you is not intimating or scary, but rather challenging and rewarding. By then citing an example of how you were faced with a difficult situation and how you resolved it will once again provide a reassurance that you are qualified for the job. (note – this is something for you to think about as well, perhaps they have many difficult situation on their end, so carefully try to obtain additional information about this subject and listen to what they are sharing with you).
