Answer to: What would you say are your strengths?
This is a pretty standard question and many are comfortable answering this. But my biggest word of advice again is to focus on the job at hand. If the role is centered on doing financial analyses, then of course you must mention how your strengths include math, numbers, analytics, etc. Most importantly, citing examples of how you have these strengths will always leave a stronger impression with the firm. So prepare these answers in advance. Know what your strengths are for the interview and have great examples to back up those strengths.
It’s not enough to say, “Yes, I am good at math and numbers” – but rather you then take it to the next level and discuss examples of how you applied your strength in math and numbers towards a huge excel project that required macros and queries and this spreadsheet cut processing time by 50% and errors by 90%, etc. Do you see the difference when just stating your strengths versus backing it up with examples? This is what can set you apart from a regular interview to an extraordinary interview.
